Be Careful in Cuba

by Karine

Be Careful in Cuba

Be Careful in Cuba

I met a gorrrgeous man in Cayo Largo, who immediately became my boyfriend, despite all the "he only wants you so he can get out of the country" comments.

We immediately started planning my return three months later, which was great btw, never noticed any "signs", we got along really great, laughed a lot, planned my numerous returns..

Another three months later, about two weeks before my third flight to Cuba, I got an e-mail stating he was going to Spain the next day and he would soon tell me why once everything was settled.

Now, I'm not stupid, you and I all obviously know where this was going.

Beside the fact that I knew something was beyond wrong, I was still stupidly trying to give him excuses, like the fact that I knew his sister lived in Spain, I thought maybe, just maybe, she had invited him to live there. No.
.. I still went to Cuba, and upon my return, read a new e-mail that stated he had gotten married and moved to Spain with his wife.

damn.you.

New e-mails state he is unhappy with his life in Spain. Well, too bad, so sad sucker. My Canadian life is perfect!

Be-careful.

Remark by Vic, Webmaster

Thanks for the warning. I read the message that "he is unhappy with his life in Spain" as a statement that he can't go on with his "luxury life" cheating tourists "Cuban Style" in Spain. He's probaly already on the search for the next victim.
Be happy you didn't marry him!

Good for you! Out of curiosity, what was the time span between him moving to Spain and emailing to tell you that he was unhappy? Wondering how long it took for him to learn that adults need to earn a living and not sponge off others.

You're So Right Marianne!
by: Estelle

I could not agree with your honest comments.

Grown women of a certain age must be out of their minds to think that a handsome man in his 20's would really love a woman in her 40's or 50's.

I have been in Varadero and seen enormous women, at least 180 to 200 lbs. waddle into a hotel lobby to be greeted by their male whore. I mean whore.

From his stylish clothing, sneakers, latest cell phone etc. it's obvious he earns a nice living by lying on his back servicing those beached whales who have no shame.

Hotel staff are well aware of what is going on. One woman in particular in her 50's, so overweight she has to resort to a walking stick and crutches changes her male whores quicker than she changes her underwear. She's a well paid high ranging professional in the Ontario Tourism Authority, and seems to have an addiction for young Cuban gigolos.

If D. is one of the women who then comes on to Havana Guide and whines about how badly she's been treated then I have no sympathy whatsoever. These old women know exactly what they are getting into.

They are push women, ugly, overweight, they are about as like to get laid in Ontario as Jabba the Hutt, so they take a cheap flight to Varadero for sex, pure and simple.

You see these women in Negril Jamaica. Enormous beached whales wobbling along the 7 mile stretch, blocking out the sun bulging out of their tight black lycra shorts looking ridiculous, their chubby arms round a rent a dread Rasta male whore.

These women are turning a whole generation of young men into male prostitutes, too lazy to work, they can make a better living on their back.

In Negril there are so many American women of pensionable age maintaining idler workshy Rastas.

They buy their male whores taxis, they find them clients, they feed them. Most of these guys are married to Jamaican women and have kids.

The American and Canadian grandmas are aware of this but have to shame.

First thing they always ask you when they meet you is if you need a taxi to the airport, they can arrange a lift for you.

Of course they can, for $60 US, 20 times the local rate. But they are merely pimping for their toy boy Rastas.

A wrinkly old Brit. from Liverpool with more lines in her face than Grand Central Station from decades of smoking and drinking, has bought a fashion business for her male whore of 25, he, a former tailor actually despises her.

Sue has had a string of male whores, accommodated and financed all of them. They always dump her.

But Sue is up at 6am to cook him akee and saltfish and his old wrinkled lover chats to him in patois which is hilarious, as she pampers her parasite while he has his own luxury cabin on her property Judy House Cottages.

He is clearly ashamed in front of guests, but disappears home to his wife and kids at weekends.

These old women have not shame, and we should have no sympathy for them. They know exactly what they are doing.

Forget About It
by: Marianne Delgado

Cuba is a place where there is much misery, especially since 1959. Americans (with no Cuban relatives or association with the press) are not permitted to travel there. I guess that is why this forum contains so many stories from Canadians. Travel agents there build up Varadero Beach and the like as if they were paradise. The truth is that Cuba is a communist country filled with misery and heartache. There is no food, no money -- nothing. Tourists can be staying at a luxury hotel while the employees cannot enjoy anything their employers offer - even on a day off. Communism - where the doctor earns the same as the garbage man - communism - where if you say "I don't like Castro" in central Havana, they will put you in jail. No freedom of press and no freedom of speech. Everything is antiquated - no new cars, no 15 choices of bread in a market, no electronic doors opening and closing. It is like time has stopped since 1959. Why anyone in their right mind would ever think of entering into a relationship while on a vacation in Cuba is beyond me - unless you are extremely young and ill-informed before you go or unless you are mentally ill. How could a relationship that is not on some kind of equal footing flourish. The Dominican Republic and Haiti are similar even though they are not communists.

Even After They've Conned You They Want More!
by: Celine

They don't give up. They have no sense shame or sense or morality.

For two years my Cuban was conning me, telling me how much he loved missed me, was desperate to see me again. 'Quero Verte' was what he kept repeating on the phone and in emails.

Little did I realise what a great actor he was. Building up for the kill. He manipulated me to leave behind the contents of my case. Then silence. No word for at least three months. Then I receive this..yet another lie. Apparently the reason for no contact was the phone which did not work, 'he was scammed. I told him where to go;...

Hola Celine, como estas, yo estoy bien , no te habia escrito antes porque no tengo correom bueno me compre el movil hace tiempo pero tiene problema con la linea, se la compre a un chico y me estafo, no te preocupes. nunca me olvido de usted.

The Con Men Need to Be Shown Up, Outed
by: Celine

Karine, many women can relate to what your hustler put you through.

To some extent we have all been fooled, duped. Be it our feelings or with material things. They have used us.

However we should not paint all Cubans with the same brush. It's the hustlers who flock to the resorts and who pay to work at the tourist resrts who are in the main the con artists tricking a number of women at a time.

They need to be reprimanded. Nipped in the bud. Their bosses and colleagues know what they are doing and look the other way.

Why should they be allowed to play with people's lives, emotions, finances, and get away with it.

This is not about 'Poor Cubans'. Nonsense!.

It's about season hustlers. Crooks, criminals, who have money, they are the wealthiest in Cuba!. And They have to be stopped.

It's always the wealthiest who try to con others. Just look at what out politicians are getting away with!.

In Jamaica last week one of their wealthiest and most succesful artists - Elephant Man was prosecuted for stealing electricity. Another leading musicians also very wealthy - Buju Banton is serving 15 years for importing Class A drugs.

Do they need the money? No! But they still scam others.

I sent a picture with name and details of my scammer ex. to my local Cuban Tourism Board, and to the Cuban Embassy.

My con man ex will now hopefully be tapped on the shoulder. Stopped in his tracks before we can con some other unsuspecting tourist.

They do have to be stopped!

Sites-Beware-Cuba!
by: Anonymous

I think there should be a site in Cuba with pictures and names of all the desperate women and men coming into Cuba to use and abuse the people there.
It's just sickening to see the women and men grovel over these Cubano's and try to buy them with their money-but the tide is reversed now,it's payback time-all you women and men who go to Cuba or any 3rd world country to buy human's deserve all and more crap then you can handle.
LOOK OUT CUBA HERE COME'S ANOTHER PLANE LOAD OF DESPERATE LOSER'S-OUCH!!

Remark by Vic Webmaster

Publishing names and pictures of suspected, real or presumed scammers on the internet is a risky business. There is such a thing like "Privacy legislation". What about false accusations? Only a court can decide! Note that the internet has an "everlasting memory". I have already deleted several posts on request of the posters. A few days later they found their own postings too inappropriate. We can delete the posts, but after a few hours they are already indexed by Google and other search engines, and we can not delete your posts in their computers! Imagine to find your inappropiate post 10 years later in another context!
The only thing we can do is to warn our visitors, by describing the scam methods and the fake stories.

What are the sites you talk about
by: Anonymous

I'd like to know the name of those sites you are talking about? It would be interesting to see the names and photos of hustlers posted on a site for all to see before or after Cuba. I think that when you by a ticket to Cuba there should be a warning sticker on the ticket stating Indulge at your own risk. Anyways I have fallen for a few cubans over the years. It would be fun to see if any of them made the list you speak of.

Smoothest Scammer in Guardalavaca
by: Sally

I would hardly describe Franklin as 'gorgeous'. Tall arrogant assertive cool, muscular, self assured yes. But not gorgeous.

I was enjoying a magnificent sunset. The sunset to end all sunsets on the evening of my arrival. The Crystal beer never tasted better after my longhaul flight.

He approached me, to my annoyance, blocking my view of the sunset. Would I mind if he joined me as he cockily pulled up a chair. Meanwhile I'm trying to think of a few choice words to tell him where to go and waiting for him to hang himself with some line.

But Franklin is a seasoned scammer par excellence. He showed me his tightly honed calf muscles bragging that he'd just returned from a 30 kilometre cycle ride. He was on the national team and had won many cups for his cycling.

He also happened to organise tours. I told him point blank that I did not need a tour guide. He turned the conversation round with a smile by inviting me to have a drink at a great little bar close by.

He drove a very flash souped up Honda so clearly had been successful or had a few wealthy yumas taking care of him.

The latest Vybes Kartel and Movado boomed from his stereo as we pulled up at the local bar and he hopped out loving the jealous glances from the local jiniteros. He described the Honda as his baby, his 'Lamborghini'.

He passed the test, kept the conversation interesting, we touched on Obama, G4 summit, the recent capture of Bin Laden, greedy politicians, needless involvement in too many wars etc. Taking out Khadafi etc. he won me over, he was bright.

He offered to take me to breakfast next day and we parted with no more than a peck on the cheek. Breakfast was delicious served by a lovely aguela who knew how to rustle up the best plantain and roasted breadfruit with cornmeal porridge I'd ever tasted.

He wanted to take me to a local beauty spot, n undiscovered beach but he need me to 'chip in for petrol'. Sure I said.

'Fill her up and I need oil as well' he told the garage attendent instructing him to collect payment from me.

'That will be 80 CUC's' said the attendent. 'Oh I'm not the owner, he's paying' I replied.

Franklin frowned 'I though we had agreed we were sharing' he said. 'Share'? I asked. 'Pitch In, yes, but not take the p.iss' I replied. "Do not swear he reprimanded me, I'm a Christian' pointing to the 'I work with God' sticker.

He explained that since he was taking me to the beach and would collect me tomorrow 80CUC was peanuts. I think we have crossed wires here I told him. I never asked for and never wanted you to be my tour guide. If I had wanted one I would have requested one.

Meanwhile his eyes are following a blonde as she strolls by in denim hotpants.

"Be my guest, maybe she has a bigger budget than me' I told him as I hopped out of the Honda slamming the door in his now startled face as the attendent asks him for some ID and payment and threatens to call security.

They Don't Know the Meaning of the Word 'Love'
by: Sally

Karine I do not think they know the meaning of the word love such is the greed and avarice that has consumed them in their formative years.

Their parents accepted the post revolution 'struggle' and were hard working. This generation has grown up watching and mingling with stylish western tourists who have smart phones, ipods and great sneakers. They lust after those those posessions far more than they lust after us.

Like many men of that generation not only in Cuba, but worldwide they want something for nothing. They prefer a woman to support them. I will recall one such example of one such arrogant hustler in my following post.

Looking back on it, feels like it was just a big race for him. See how many women he could date without any of them finding out, and see who will marry him first.

After all of this happened, a woman from Argentina emailed me to say how she couldn't believe what he did, and how she knew about it because all of a sudden he randomly had a new wife on Facebook when one week before, there were pictures of him and I all over. She had told me that she had dated him briefly a year ago. A few months later he exchanged contact information with a new friend of mine that I met actually because we went to the same hotel, (not same time though), then while he was 'dating' me, I had received a comment on one of my FB pictures of a woman who claimed he was hers, stupidly shrugged it off though. And NOW, he has a wife.

Talk about a player. You would think that they could at least TRY to fall in love, see how much better that could work out. Now he's unhappy. Well gee, I wonder why.

It really amazes me
by: Seen the light

That they think they can get away with doing what they do, but they soon get rumbled.
I told my ex about this website, I even told him that there was sites that 'named and shamed' cetain Cubans, thier names, thier descriptions, where women met them, what clubs etc etc. I explained a few times as best as I could that we are getting wise to it all now, but it was like talking to someone who was on day release, he nodded, blew air out of his teeth, shook his head, the look of astonishment on his face was a sight to behold, but, did he take it in? no, of course not.
He knew I was on to him, and especially after mentioning sites, and told him a few stories, the stupid fool still thought he could push his luck.

Initially I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, and even though I was so hard and wise with him at times, he still tried to push it.

He has contacted me a few times since I split up with him, he is sorry, he knows now that he was wrong, and I am the woman for him..... I have not even acknowledge his emails or his texts, as I couldnt care less, he had his chance, he blew it, so let him get on with it.

They think they are so clever, they think we do not know the score, that we are stupid, I let mine think I was stupid to a certain extent, and cause he thought I was stupid he would push it, then..... I would rip his head off lol

I must admit when he would try and get one over on me, I did get a sadisitic pleasure out of getting him back, in the end it ended up being a game with me, he made it so easy for me.

The plus side now is that there are sites like this one that hopefully can give warnings to potential victims.

Soo Many Cuban Men Are Scammers Like Him!
by: Sally

I too met a gorgeous man in a small town casa de la trova.

He's good looking and a great dancer and spent a week trying to convince me that he was really interested despite the fact I'm 10 years older.

We would do simple things like sit on a bench enjoying a drink watching the waves, as he whispered enderaments of love in my ear.

He told he was single and emailed me for two years repeating those words of love.

I finally relented and returned at great expense. He was different, stylishly dressed, more arrogant, too confident, he bitched a lot about so many financial problems, I became bored and lost my patience, but he kept wooing me until the last night when he went in for the kill.

We had some drinks in a romantic setting and he managed to cajole all my clothes out of me.

I never heard from him again not until last week, (six months later) to tell me he missed me and still thought about me. I did not reply.

I later discovered he was the father of two children by different mothers and lived with one of them.

So much for being 'single'.
