Brainwashed in Cuba

Here are some sure signs that you have met a jinetera or jinetero. I'm speaking from experience, I married one.
The first and most obvious sign is that they are reluctant to talk about their past. When they do, they are vague. You get the impression they never had a life.
They will tell you they only had 1 or 2 relationships. That's a lie because Cubans are very proud of their sexual openness, and not ashamed to have sex with someone they just met,,,,Cuban or tourist.
Also, if you meet any family they will be vague about her. My wife's sister acted like she didn't know her own sister. When you ask a simple question and don't get an answer,it's because they don't know what she told you, and they don't want to contradict her, or him.
Next sign, watch for contradictions. They tell so many lies, they can't remember what they said.
Another sign,, pay attention to when they keep their distance from you. In private they will be all over you. In public she will let go of your hand, walk behind you or in front, and even just pull away. All for no seemingly good reason. Moments later, she is back together with you.
What happened is she saw one of her lovers, or a undercover cop that knows her. You have to remember they have Cuban lovers when you go back home.
Here is another sign, you will have Crazy , Wonderful Sex, TOO MUCH. Don't get me wrong, I like sex and I like crazy sex, but in a normal relationship people are also interested in each other. They talk about small stuff, anything and everything. When someone really loves you, they are interested in you. A jinetera makes sex the most important thing. Lots of sex and no talking. You fall in love, and they have a chance to get out of the country.
My advice, don't get to drunk, keep a clear head so you can spot these signs. Get your lover drunk so they start making mistakes, contradictions.
That's how I smartened up, my wife made most of her mistakes when she was drinking. Small slips when talking and having sex.

Good advice from Victor! To know your partner takes time, that's one of the most common mistakes foreigners make. I would also like to add, test your partner frequently, for example, leave your wallet on the table with money, not much but enough to be tempting for her, many small banknotes. Does she asks all the time for expensive stuff, a cellphone, expensive clothing etc.? She surely is trying to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. If she can only offer sex, she's probably a jinetera, as explained correctly by Victor in his message above.
This is not intended to blame the Cubans, similar things happen in many other countries. Poverty can do bad things to good people.
