Havana Cola - Havana Queue

Havana cola is known as a softdrink by US citizens, but in Havana Cuba they have their own soda named Tu Cola.
To many people in Havana Cuba, a cola has another meaning, a cola means a queue in Spanish.
Queues in Havana are legendary and many jokes circulate about
"life in the queue", most queues are in front of internet cafés, bank offices even in front of the well known restaurant Los Nardos, known for the best steak in town.

Life in the Havana Queue

Although the average Cuban is used to the queues, and trained to be patient there are some rules to be followed in a Havana queue.

1) When you enter for example in a Cuban bank and see a lot of people waiting the code of conduct is to ask politely "El Ultimo"?
(Who is the last one?) Now you have to focus on this person and know it will be your turn after this person is helped.
2) Everybody has to wait, don't get nervous, Cubans are used to this waiting and try to make the best of it.
3) It's perfectly acceptable to socialize with your neighbors in the queue, and on special events in the Casa de la Musica (Music Dance Hall) when there are long queues it's customary that Cubans sell their place in the queue for a few pesos, or even offer to queue for you, to make some money.
