Havana beaches - Playas del este - Playa Mar Azul

GREAT CUBAN HOLIDAYS AT THE PLAYAS DEL ESTE

Several beautiful Havana beaches named “Playas del Este”are
located at +/- 20 km east of Havana.
The closest beach is Bacuranao, situated about 15 km east of Havana.
The best beaches are at “Santa Maria del Mar” this is the most tourist-oriented and the busiest of the “Eastern Havana beaches”. Boca Ciega is situated 27 km from Havana and 3 km further you’ll find “Playa Guanabo". Close to Alamar is a quiet and lovely beach “Mar Azul" mainly visited by Cubans.

HAVANA BEACHES SAFETY

You are safe on the Havana Beaches, several Police patrols guard the beaches. There's a tight control on jinetera's (escort girls) and hustlers on the beaches too.

You can get there with the Viazul Bus departing from Nuevo Vedado, but the best option is to go by taxi. A single trip will cost 15 –20 CUC, or about 1 CUC per km.

HAVANA BUS TOUR

In 2008 the Cuban Transport company Transtur started with three different expanded and guided city tours. The HAVANA BUS TOUR starts from Parque Central (Central Park) in front of the hotel Inglaterra and goes to ALAMAR and stops right in front of the MAR AZUL BEACH.(check you're on the right tour) The price of a ticket is 5 CUC valid for a complete day (return included) Bus time from 9.00 am till 6.30 pm children 0-6 year free.
At present time this Havana bus service in modern busses is the cheapest and best way to reach the Playas del Este.
