How can a US citizens study in Cuba?

by Augustino Gamboa
(San Diego, CA, USA)

I'm a current high school graduate from here in the US and would like to study Spanish, as well as the arts at the University of Havana for more than a year or for however long it takes me to get an degree from the cuban university. What would I have to do to accomplish this? What would the general process and/or requirements be?

ANSWER by Vic webmaster Havana-guide.com

As a US citizens you can not freely travel to Cuba. You have to apply for an OFAC license due to the Cuban Embargo. The Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University has been granted a special license from OFAC, the US Treasury Department Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The courses are taught in Spanish, so a basic knowledge of the Spanish language is needed.
It's no vacation your presence in the courses is
controlled.
