Reality check of the Cuban Revolution

Cuba has not had a revolution. It has converted from a Capitalist system to a dictatorship. A doctor earns $25 a month and a Policeman $150. Control of the people not the welfare of the people is the paramount aim. The whole system is a joke. Everything is a deception and the only way to eat properly is to engage in illegal capitalistic entrepeneurial activities which most Cubans of any means are engaged in. Having said that, I would not change a thing as Cubans have qualities in their life that are more valuable than the day to day substenance. They have a relatively egalitarian culture with mutual support.

Sure There's Corruption But Cuba 'Aint So Bad!
by: Donna

I totally agree, the system is corrupt and a joke.

It seems that unless you are well connected with the 'Party' or have access to tourists, or juggling a couple of jobs on the black market you are just about surviving.

However I do love the country. It sure beats a hell of a lot of other rotten so called 'Democratic' systems.

Look at the UK where the majority of their politicians were exposed for fraud and theft of taxpayer's money. Meanwhile they are 14% in deficit.

Look at America engaged in so many wars, bombing and torturing and illegal incarcerations and renditions of individuals guilty of nothing more than being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Then we have the drug centre of the Caribbean - Dominican Republic the major transhipment island for cocaine to the US and Europe. With a deeply corrupt govt. No healthcare and no free educaton. An island where everyone man and woman is selling their bodies and there violence and rape and murder are an everyday occurence.

When you loo at all of this and weigh it all up Cuba does not seem so bad after all.
