Salesmen in Havana: You see them at the tourist venues in Old Havana, Obispostreet, Plaza de Armas, Central Park,
elderly men shouting "GRANMA" "GRANMA" !!,
They sell "GRANMA" the official newspaper of the
Cuban Communist Party. Selling on the streets is an illegal practice in Cuba, but the
regime closes its eyes, the majority of this men are veterans of "the Revolution" , they fought against
the tyrant Batista together with Fidel Castro and Che Guevara and support the Government line
without restrictions.
Nowdays most of them struggle to meet ends. None of the salesmen
in Havana can function completely in the
communist system and they have to resort to illegal methods to survive : selling on the streets,
the 3 Peso Che Guevara coins to tourists or selling the newspapers they buy at the kiosks in
Havana.
