Staying in cuba

by Haymi Perez
(miami,fl usa)

If I was born in Cuba but I am now a US resident can I stay to live in cuba?

Answer by Vic Webmaster

The Cuban Government does not recognize the dual nationality. If you are born in Cuba, even if you have the US nationality (dual nationality Cuban-US nationality) you will still be regarded as a Cuban citizen. (abroad)

Much depends on your status, have you left Cuba legally? (with a Cuban exit visa and Cuban passport?) When you have left Cuba illegally you can possibly expect a prison sentence on your return to Cuba. The best you can do is to contact the Cuban Interest Section located in the Swiss Embassy in Washington for more information.
