Travel insurance Cuba - Cuba is a country known for its low-cost and high skilled medical personnel. Cuba offers an extended medical treatment program that include, cosmetical surgery, dental implants and health check-ups. Cuban health tourism is a growing industry on the island.

Health Insurance - Medical Insurance

As of May 1 2010 Cuba impose a health insurance on visitors. People planning a trip to Cuba need to know if their insurance is on the list of the Cuban approved insurance companies. The insurance policy must be purchased from the country of departure and valid for the duration of the stay in Cuba. It's strongly recommended to check the coverage of your medical insurance.
No US insurance companies can insure the US citizens in Cuba. Some observers think that the rationale behind this measure is, to eliminate travelers in search for (free) cheap medical treatment.
Visitors arriving in Cuba without an insurance coverage can buy a Cuban insurance policy at the airport from the Cuban company ASISTUR

COVERAGE

  • Medical expenses due to sudden diseases/accidents 10,000 CUC
  • Repatriation and transport 10,000 CUC
  • Personal Civil Liability 10,000 CUC
  • Advance of judical bail bond 5,000 CUC
  • Assistance 1,000 CUC
    PREMIUM per visitor per day 2.5 CUC (1 CUC = 1.08 USD)
    An extra premium of 2.00 CUC per day should be paid for people older than 70 years.
