Varadero Cuba Resorts

Time and Weather in Varadero Cuba

The Cuban tourist industry is concentrated in Varadéro, the well known Cuba resort situated on the Hicacos Peninsula in the province Matanzas, 140 km east of Havana.
With its white sand beaches, clear water, waving palm trees and brilliant sun, The Cuban beach resort ranks among the ten most beautiful beaches in the world.
Before the Revolution, the venue was already a reputated beach resort visited by the rich and famous among them billionaires like Irenee Dupont de Nemours. Her famous XANADU mansion is now a golf club.

Intensive investments and improvements have been made to attract the international tourism. Several luxury all-inclusive hotels were built, most of them Cuban joint ventures with foreign hotel chains, to seduce the "sun and fun" tourists.

Arrival

The Cuban resort has a modern airport named Juan Gualberto Gomez international airport, the second airport after Havana International Airport.
You can get Cuban money at the CADECA (official money exchange) at the airport exit. Ask for a receipt and count your money, this exchange office is notorious for shortchanging. Outside the airport many hotels have buses waiting to pick up their guests. There are plenty of taxis available to city center (approx. 25 Cuc) or to Havana (approx. 125km and 80 Cuc)
