by John
(Ontario)

Which countries and government leaders were involved in the Cuban missile crisis?
ANSWER by Vic webmaster Havana-guide.com

After the failed Bay of Pigs invasion, the Soviet Union convinced Cuba that they were in the possession of secret information, that the Unites States was preparing an new invasion on the Cuban island. To protect Cuba, Fidel Castro agreed with the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev to install nuclear missiles on Cuban soil. US President J.KENNEDY ordered a
naval blocade, and after an incident with a Soviet atomic submarine, negotations started to come to an agreement and to avoid a nuclear war.
